Our Global Forest has grown

Following the success of our first Global Forest planted almost 12 months ago, we’ve recently expanded it, adding 200 more trees. Our Global Forest now spans six different countries – Haiti, Kenya, Tanzania, Ecuador, Columbia, and Nepal and consists of 12 different fruit tree species – macadamia, coffee, lemon, guava, passion fruit and others.

Not only does our Global Forest absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, it also empowers disadvantaged farming communities in developing countries, protects biodiversity and provides sustainable income and a food source to those less fortunate. It’s a CSR initiative we are extremely proud of.

Financing small agroforestry projects through our Global Forest brings a multitude of environmental and social benefits:

• Global CO2 absorption – Over the next ten years our trees will absorb 88,250kg of CO2, enough to fill up 460 trucks
• Combat soil erosion and desertification
• Protect biodiversity
• Train farmers in disadvantaged regions of the world
• Directly fund local communities
• Create income opportunities

Empowering disadvantaged farming communities

Our Global Forest finances a farmer through every element of the tree growing process – from seedling to replacement of failed plants, training, health checks and more. The fruit of the trees will then belong to the farmer, to use as a food resource and income support.

An online tree diary

We’ve partnered with Treedom on this initiative, and they photograph every single tree planted, from seedling stage in the plant nursery, through to being transplanted into the ground, geolocated and given its own online page within our Global Forest. We get photo and video updates throughout its lifetime and get to know the farmer who is taking care of it.
